About

Hi, I’m Emily. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2011. Since then, I have gained experience of working in a variety of settings within the NHS – covering both mental health and physical health settings. My last position within the NHS was within pain management and I have close to 10 years experience working within that specialism. I have worked independently in private practice since 2021.

Due to my breadth of experience, I can offer psychological therapy for a range of difficulties including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, perfectionism, depression, and adjustment to long-term health conditions.

I have a particular interest and specialism in helping people who may be struggling to adjust to significant life events, for example (but not exclusive to):

  • Diagnosis of a long-term health condition
  • Hormonal changes such as the menopause
  • Becoming a parent
  • The breakdown of a relationship
  • Career changes

I also have an interest in supporting people who tend to have high standards for themselves or who may be prone to self-criticism.

I am trained in a number of evidence-based psychological therapies and will tailor my approach to meet your needs. What this means is that I can treat you as an individual considering and integrating the therapeutic approaches we agree will be most likely to help. I particularly enjoy working with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and have completed many additional trainings and continuing professional development activities to enhance my skill in offering these.

As well as being a Clinical Psychologist, I am also a mum and exercise enthusiast: I run regularly and have found this to be an effective way of allowing me to have greater balance and calm in my busy world!
